The EQS has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Taycan doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The rear seatbelts optional on the EQS inflate when a collision is detected, helping to spread crash forces over a much larger area of the body and limiting head and neck movement. This can help prevent spinal and internal injuries. The Taycan doesn’t offer inflatable seatbelts.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EQS has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Taycan doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the EQS and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

There are almost 2 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the EQS’ warranty.

For better traction, the EQS has larger standard tires than the Taycan (255/45R20 vs. 225/55R19).

The EQS’ standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Taycan’s standard 55 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the EQS has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Taycan.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires optional on the EQS can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Taycan doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The EQS’ drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Taycan doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EQS’ wheelbase is 12.2 inches longer than on the Taycan (126.4 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The EQS 450+ handles at .90 G’s, while the Taycan pulls only .89 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the EQS’ turning circle is tighter than the Taycan’s:

The design of the Mercedes EQS amounts to more than styling. The EQS has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .2 Cd. That is lower than the Taycan (.23 to .28) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the EQS get better fuel mileage.

For excellent aerodynamics, the EQS has standard flush composite headlights. The Taycan has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The EQS uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Taycan doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the EQS a Large car, while the Taycan is rated a Compact.

The EQS has 14 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Taycan (103 vs. 89).

The EQS has 2.2 inches more front headroom, 3.1 inches more front shoulder room, 1.2 inches more rear headroom, 8.2 inches more rear legroom and 5.9 inches more rear shoulder room than the Taycan.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EQS’ rear seats recline. The Taycan’s rear seats don’t recline.

The EQS has a much larger trunk with its rear seat up than the Taycan (22 vs. 17.3 cubic feet).

If the windows are left open on the EQS the driver can close all of them from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Taycan can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The EQS’ power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Taycan’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQS to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Taycan doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

Consumer Reports rated the EQS’ headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the Taycan’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

The EQS has standard front air conditioned seats and offers them optionally in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Taycan doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

Both the EQS and the Taycan offer optional massaging front seats. The EQS also offers optional massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Taycan.
